CHURCH OF CHRIST

The Church

What is the Church?  How well do we really understand it?  We know it is not a building.  It is not some kind of “club.”  Some might even think of the church as some type of “hospital” for the sick.  But, what Is the church?  The acrostic below might help us better understand the true nature of the Lord’s Church.  Look up the Scriptures (in context) for yourself and ponder their meaning in terms of the Lord’s Church and your place in the body.

C       Christ is her Savior and Head
Ephesians 5:23

H      Holy Spirit is her power and helper
Romans 8:26

U       Unity is her bonding force
Romans 6:5 and Ephesians 4:3

R       Rightly dividing (correctly handling) the word is her charge
2 Timothy 2:15

C       Christians are her citizens, and the body of Christ
Philippians 3:20 and Colossians 1:24

H      Heaven is her goal
1 Peter 1:4, Philippians 3:20 and 2 Peter 3:13

God has blessed us with the Scriptures so that we can better know that of which we are a part, thanks to the saving blood of Jesus Christ.
